Book Review: Maps-Mapas a Happy Language Kids bilingual book
MAPS - MAPAS (HAPPY LANGUAGE KIDS - a bilingual book series for elementary school (English/ Spanish))
by Suzy Liebermann is the second pyp book in the Happy Language Kids series that I have read with my child. My daughter said that she liked the book and that the pictures really helped her know what words were being taught. She is looking forward to learning more of this language. . This one is a little harder for her than the first one we read, La Familia, but still not too difficult for her to grasp. I really appreciate that they take the time to animate and voice the books on their website. It is a huge help in learning the proper

Blucy and Mary Had A Sleepy Sheep book reviews and Giveaway!
I got the wonderful opportunity to review two books written by Julia Dweck
. My daughter and I emailed back and forth with Julia during the last few days talking about the books she sent us to read. We think she is a very sweet person and really enjoyed the chance to talk with her a bit.
Here is a quick bio on Julia:
Julia's background in elementary education affords her the opportunity to be in touch with what children want to read and what makes them giggle. She's collaborated with leading artists in the world of children's literature to produce over 20 Amazon eBooks. Her titles have garnered placement on Amazon's bestsellers in children's color picture books multiple times. PIE-RITS: A PIRATE ADVENTURE was selected by Amazon Editors for the prestigious "Kindle Daily Deal." Many of Julia's titles have earned placement on Amazon's top ranked lists based on customer review. In her spare time, Julia is a designer of educational adjuncts for children's literature, and has worked with such notable publishing houses as Penguin Young Readers. She presented at the 2011 National Center for Family Literacy for her creative use of technology in the classroom.

Have you tried Giant Eagle Market District Gelato? It comes in a great variety of flavors and it's a lot like ice cream. It's gluten free and tastes really great! It's not milky like ice cream, it's a bit more creamy. We tried the Raspberry Cheesecake flavor and it tastes so much like raspberry cheesecake, it was unbelievable! Have you tried Giant Eagle Frozen Fruit or Sorbet Bars? Those are really great too! Both products come in a lot of really great flavors. The Gelato is a lot like ice cream but the texture is different. You know how ice cream tastes milky? This is more like eating ice cream. It's really good! The Sorbet bars have a soft texture. Scott Zavoda's Morning Commute Book Review
I recently received the opportunity to read and review the short story Morning Commute by Scott Zavoda.
Let me start off by saying this, if you want something quick and highly entertaining, you should read this short story! It was hilarious! I wasn't sure at first if I was going to enjoy it. The writing style is not my favorite. It is present tense in the first person POV. A lot of times, when I come across books written this way, I just can't get into them. This story, however, really held my attention.It is very short, coming in at around eleven pages, and I blew through it in no time. I thought it was very satisfying for a short story. The setting of this story is very familiar to a lot of us. I found that the main character is very amusing and relatable in her thoughts and actions. Her day starts of poorly and goes downhill very quickly in an altogether hilarious way. The ending, which I must admit I kind of assumed was going to happen, was just as funny as the rest of the story. It was a very satisfying ending. I really want to tell you all about it, but I don't want to ruin the story for anyone.
Suffice it to say, I loved it. I found myself alternately laughing out loud and groaning aloud as the story progressed. As I said earlier, I kind of figured out how it would end, but that didn't detract from it in the least. If anything it made it even funnier to me. Of course, I kind of have a twisted sense of humor.
The story does use coarse language, so is not a good option for younger readers. You can tell it was meant for adults. I would let my teen son read it but not my preteen daughter. The subject matter is not appropriate, in my opinion, for younger readers. But, if you are an adult or older teen and want something that will tickle your funny bone, I highly recommend this story. I hope to see more from this writer in the future.
