Product Review: Bella Sun Luci Sun Dried Tomatoes

I was lucky enough to receive several jars of Bella Sun Luci Sun Dried Tomato products free for review purposes. I decided to try them out in several different dishes. We love pasta here at home, so mostly we used them in place of diced canned or fresh tomatoes in our pasta dishes .

Here is the product description from the company:

Our authentic bruschetta originates from an authentic family recipe that combines sun ripened tomatoes, fresh basil, premium olive oil, and Italian herbs to create a truly “homemade” flavor.
Mooney Farms, manufacturer of the Bella Sun Luci line is family owned and operated, located in Northern California. We are the largest producer of sun dried tomatoes in the U.S. .
The most traditional use is to toast your favorite bread and spread our bruschetta directly on top for a simple and delicious appetizer. But, it is just as amazing stirred into your favorite cooked pasta!
Our bruschetta is versatile, you can use it as a sauce on your gourmet pizza, or on your next Panini or wrap for added flavor. The possibilities are endless, so be creative!

Here is a pic they supplied. I rarely can get my pictures to look that pretty! All other photos in this review are my own.

My experiences with the product:

First off we tried the jar labeled Bruschetta. As I had never made Bruschetta, I thought it would be fun to make some. I made is simply by using a French loaf from the store, some shredded mozzarella cheese, and the sun dried tomatoes from Bella Sun Luci. I cut the slices from the loaf at an angle, brushed them with olive oil, sprinkled some mozzarella cheese over them , and put them in the oven to brown the bread and melt the cheese. Then we spread on the Bruschetta topping. It was yummy! Bella Sun Luci Bruschetta has a salty, meaty taste to it. It made my son and I think slightly of pepperonis. We really enjoyed it. I took pictures of it, but cannot seem to find where I saved them to. So I will leave this one to your imagination. I do have pictures of the rest though!

The other jars, the whole tomatoes, the julienne cut, and the pesto was used in several pasta dishes. We really enjoyed them all, but my favorite was the Pine Nut Pesto. I used it instead of spaghetti or tomato sauce. It has a great flavor and texture to it. My husband even liked it, although it is contains Parmesan cheese which normally he won't eat.

                                                               My rating:
★★★★☆

I really enjoy the Bella Sun Luci line of sun dried tomatoes. Before trying these, my family would not touch sun dried tomatoes. We love the almost meaty flavor that all of the products had. There was no weird aftertaste that I have experienced with a different brand that I won't name. They all cooked up nice and juicy, instead of tough and chewy.

I recommend this product to anyone that loved tomatoes. If you have never used sun dried tomatoes in your cooking, I would suggest starting with this brand. You will probably never switch to a different brand!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

  2. I'm the only one in my house that even touches anything that looks like a tomato so I don't usually buy them...sun dried might be a good alternative that wouldn't spoil as fast.
